Darjeeling 2nd Flush, Castleton Estate

Darjeeling 2nd Flush, Castleton Estate

Darjeelings are standouts in the black tea category, renown for their complex aromas and nuanced flavors. The flushes refer to the harvest: second flushes are the second picking of the plants, usually in late April or early May, and are processed to maximize oxidation of the leaves.

Originally planted in 1885, the Castleton Estate ranges in elevation from about 3,000 to 6,000 feet. As it maintains a high proportion of classic China cultivar bushes, the resulting tea has a well balanced, bright orange flavor and rich, deep floral aroma: this is a round and approachable second flush, ideal for true Darjeeling fans.
