Darjeeling 1st Flush, Muscatel Valley

Darjeeling 1st Flush, Muscatel Valley

45.00

An iconic taste of the season, Darjeeling First Flush teas are eagerly awaited each spring. These light-bodied, intensely fragrant teas are produced in small quantities for only a few weeks, usually beginning in early April; only the new young buds and first leaves are harvested, and they undergo a unique hard-wither process.

This lot is comprised of classic China cultivar—the original type of tea plant brought to India—grown in Muscatel Valley, the highest elevation section of the Goomtee Estate. It’s a remarkably structured tea, with a light, silky texture: aromas of hazelnut and violets rise from the leaves, backed by spicy flavors of allspice and orange. Try steeping three times, with water slightly below boiling, to fully explore its complexity.
